WARNING

Once you press the LOCK-OUT switch, the safety locking mechanisms will release the attachment from the coupler.
Crowd the COUPLER/ATTACHMENT until the attachment pins are NEAR VERTICAL. This ensures that the attachment weight is held by the C-CAVITY of the coupler.
1
Press the LOCK-OUT switch ON. Note that in some excavators, a secondary action may be needed, such as pressing a pedal.
2
Lower the attachment until it is resting on the ground.
3
Ensure that the weight of the attachment is retained in the C-CAVITY. Rotating the coupler before the attachment is on the ground could result in the attachment falling out.
4
Allow the attachment to settle on the ground and rotate the coupler away from the rear pin.
5
Lift the coupler away.
6
Note that once the tenX Coupler is free, the Safety Knuckle is instantly ready to engage the next attachment.
7

NOTE

The speed that the Primary Wedge retracts and releases the attachment is governed by hydraulic pressure supply. Idle revs may cause a slow retraction of the Primary Wedge, so ensure there is sufficient pressure to complete the operation. Crowding the coupler not only serves to put the attachment in a safe position, it raises carrier machine revs. If the carrier machine allows it, a boost to the revs would ensure an efficient retraction.

NOTE

These instructions assume that you have just DETACHED from an attachment and the LOCK-OUT switch is ON.
Engage the FRONT PIN of the attachment. The tenX Safety Knuckle will be instantly locked to the pin.
1
Lower the coupler to the REAR PIN.
2
Before lifting the attachment, ensure that the coupler is aligned so that the C-CAVITY takes the attachment weight, not the Safety Knuckle.
3
Lift the attachment off the ground. It may swing a little depending on the centre-of-gravity.
4
Crowd the coupler so that the attachment pins are NEAR VERTICAL. This will press the REAR PIN hard against the coupler chassis.
5
Turn the LOCK-OUT switch OFF. With the coupler crowded, this will extend the Primary Wedge to engage the REAR PIN.
* SEE NOTE BELOW
6
Shake the attachment to ensure a correct engagement.
7

NOTE

These instructions assume that an attachment has just been detached and the LOCK-OUT switch is already ON.
If attaching for the first time or if the tenX coupler was empty, at STEP 6, turn the LOCK-OUT switch ON with the coupler crowded. This will RETRACT the Primary Wedge if it was extended. Wait a moment, then switch the LOCK-OUT switch OFF to extend the Primary Wedge and engage the REAR PIN.
If the REAR PIN was resting against an extended Primary Wedge, you will see the attachment settle against the coupler chassis.
